Fairy Penguin or Little Blue Penguin

Eudyptula minor

Fairy penguins live along the shore of southern Australia, and New Zealand. Their largest colony is on Phillip Island (near Melbourne, 20,000 individuals), where they constitute a tourist attraction. They are the smallest of all penguins, reaching a length of up to 42 cm (16.5 in). In spite of their small size they still cannot fly, like all other penguins. They are the most nocturnal of all penguins.

The above picture was taken at Cincinnati zoo, in May, 2001.
